The civic group “Political Mothers” held a demonstration at Seoul Plaza on Dec. 21 as part of a campaign to discourage parents from giving children toy guns as gifts this Christmas. The group said that such toys, “are a medium of encouraging violence,” and that their campaign, “is an effort to create a peaceful society.” The women plan on asking relevant government ministries to eliminate the presence of toy guns in education and child care centers, and also hope to conclude agreements with large department stores to stop selling such toys.
