Following his New Year’s address at the Blue House on Jan. 10, President Moon held a press conference with reporters that lasted more than an hour and covered a wide range of issues. The press conference was notable for the fact that it was the first time a South Korean president answered reporters’ questions without a pre-arranged order, instead calling on them as they raised their hands.
One reporter asked the president, “There have been many instances of reporters who have criticized you or your government being subjected to fierce online attacks from your supporters. I’m curious if there is anything you’d like to say to those supporters?” Moon responded by saying, “There is no politician who has suffered more online malice than I have, but I take it as an expression of the public. Reporters also should think calmly about this rather than being so sensitive.”
