The Gangwon Provincial Police Agency is preparing for the Pyeongchang Olympics by creating a rapid response team to deal with any safety threats that might occur. 16 officers on snowmobiles and skis will be positioned at various points along the slopes so that they can respond quickly to terror or any other safety issues that could happen during competition.
A horseback police unit will also be present, with 10 officers and six horses deployed to the opening and closing ceremonies, and other events where there will be large concentrations of people.
Finally, there were also be a special Tourist Police force consisting of 30 officers who can provide translation services and will also deal with any illegal infractions on the part of foreign visitors to the Olympics. (provided by Gangwon Provincial Police Agency)
