[Photo] Lee Sang-deuk arrives for questioning in wheelchair

Prosecutors summoned Lee Myung-bak’s older brother and former Saenuri Party lawmaker Lee Sang-deuk to the Seoul Central District Court for questioning in the NIS special activity fund case. An investigation is underway to determine whether the former president ordered unlawful payments from the NIS special activity fund to high ranking members of his administration. Lee Sang-deuk, who has was given a 15-month prison sentence last year for his role in the 2015 Posco bribery case, closed his eyes and refused to answer reporters’ questions as he entered the courthouse. Some legal experts are speculating that Lee’s entrance using a wheelchair was part of a strategy to prevent his arrest. (by Shin So-young, staff photographer)
