The Daegwallyeong Snow Festival is scheduled to open on Feb. 7, and will coincide roughly with the Pyeongchang Olympics. The festival, which has been held each year in Pyeongchang County since 1993, will feature a variety of different snow sculptures for visitors to enjoy, as well as snowman building and sledding activities. The Daegwallyeong area is often called, “The Alps of Korea,” as it is located in a valley 700 meters above sea level and receives heavy snowfall every winter.
