[Photo] Famous Korean playwright publicly apologizes for sexual abuse

Lee Youn-taek, one of the most famous figures in South Korean theatre, issued a public apology on Feb. 19 for repeated instances of sexual abuse and harassment that spanned almost two decades. Lee has been hit with a torrent of allegations in the past week after Kim Su-hee, an actress who performed in Lee’s play, “Ogu” accused him of improper conduct after he had forced her to give him a massage. Two days ago, Lee was also accused of rape by an actress who was formerly part of Lee’s Yeonhee Street Theatre Troupe. In his apology, Lee denied the rape allegations, but acknowledged that he had “committed grave misdeeds,” and would accept any legal punishment that comes as a result. (Yonhap News)
