[Photo] GM Korea workers demonstrate outside of Gunsan factory

Holding signs saying, “Gunsan citizens are all dying,” and “Firings are murder,” workers at the GM Korea factory in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province demonstrated against company’s plans to close the plant. GM’s corporate office announced the closure earlier this month as part of its global restructuring strategy, and sent a letter informing 200 irregular workers that they were being laid off. The fate of GM Korea’s three other factories in the country will be decided in the coming weeks, pending the company’s negotiations with its workers’ unions and government officials.
