The #MeToo movement in South Korea has spread to universities, as students rallied in front of the statute of famed Korean hero Admiral Lee Sun-shin in Gwanghwamun Plaza to call for an end to the abortion ban and sexual violence in academia and the workplace on Mar. 6. The rallied followed an announcement by the Ministry of Education on Mar. 6 that it would launch an investigation into the theatre and visual arts department at Myongji University in Seoul after four professors were recently dismissed due to allegations of sexual harassment. During the course of the demonstration, the student group announced that they had set up a webpage on Facebook called, “Bamboo Forest” where victims of sexual harassment and assault could anonymously post their stories.
