Citizens are pledging to take individual steps to reduce air pollution following high levels of PM 2.5 which afflicted South Korea’s air quality recently. A group of concerned citizens gathered in the Sejong Arts Center and pledged to use public transportation, conserve energy, and change their driving habits to better protect the environment.
The group called on the called on the government to respond to the growing pollution problem, but voiced skepticism that it would actually do so. “The National Assembly is just using this issue as a political tool, and the government is responding with ineffective policies that only cause controversy. We will make changes in our individual lifestyles in order to create change,” the group said. (by Baek So-ah, staff photographer)
