The South Korean Air Force announced that F-15 jet crashed near a golf course in Chilgok County, North Gyeongsang Province on Apr. 5. The jet was returning to its home base following routine maneuvers, which were unrelated to the ongoing Key Resolve joint military exercises with the United States. Two pilots were killed. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
The crash occurred twelve years after another F-15 crashed into the East Sea in 2006. There are about 60 F-15 jets currently operating in the South Korean Air Force. (by Kim Il-woo, staff reporter)
