[Photo] Drone emergency delivery system under development

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will begin development of a project in South Chungcheong Province for a drone navigation system that will allow for the delivery of emergency supplies to islands and remote areas. The project seeks to develop a drone’s ability to read and assess location information, including addresses, prefix numbers, road numbers in order to attain sophisticated landing information.

The project envisions using drones with a maximum range of 20km and a flight time of 30 minutes to deliver 10kg worth of emergency supplies to those who have been affected by natural disasters. Tests are currently being held at Hanseo University, with field testing in Taean County, South Chungcheong Province expected to take place by the end of the year. (provided by Hanseo University)
