Yoon Seok-dong, 92, who lost his son Sang-won during the May 18 Gwangju Uprising in 1980, visits his son’s grave for what may be the last time on May 18. Yun couldn’t come to his son’s grave last year due to illness and lamented that his visit this year may be his last one. Yoon Sang-won lost his life during the Gwangju Uprising while fighting against martial law forces as a spokesperson of the citizens’ army. The memorial song, March for the Beloved, honors his “spirit marriage” to Park Ki-soon, a labor activist who passed away before the uprising.
