[Photo] Daegu University honors former comfort woman with doctorate degree

Former "comfort woman" Lee Yong-su, 89, received an honorary doctorate degree in philosophy from Daegu University. Her graduation ceremony was held at Daegu University's Gyeongsan campus on May 30 in honor of her life's dedication to resolving the comfort women issue and to educating people on historical accuracy. The university indicated in an official announcement that the honorary degree was for Lee's "contributions to peace for humanity and the dignity of the human race." Lee has spent the past 20 years traveling from Daegu to Seoul to protest the Japanese government’s dismissal of the comfort women issue on every Wednesday.
