An amendment to the Minimum Wage Act including regular bonuses paid more than once a month and benefits such as food, transportation, and lodging expenses into the scope of the minimum wage was passed in a regular session of the National Assembly on the afternoon of May 28. Members of labor unions, however, including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), claim that the amendment would “change the minimum wage for the worse” and would benefit employers more than workers. The above photo pictures a rally of KCTU members in front of the Blue House on June 1 calling for President Moon Jae-in to veto the amendment.
