Labor activists from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) rallied in front of the Blue House fountain on June 4 to protest the government’s Minimum Wage Act amendment. Both organizations are opposed to the amendment on grounds that it “changes the minimum wage for the worse,” and it that it will benefit employers more than workers. Both groups are demanding the President Moon veto the amendment. Instances of the two groups working together are rare. The KCTU has been rallying against the amendment since June 1, while the FKTU began a mass sit-down in protest of the amendment on June 4.
