Lawmakers in South Korea’s Minjoo (Democratic) Party have vowed to dye their hair blue, the color of their party, if early voter turnout in the 2018 general election reaches 20 percent. Minjoo Party secretary general Lee Chun-seok announced in a press conference on June 5 the party’s “2060 Blue Project.” The project was thus named to reflect the party’s wish that all eligible voters, whether they’re in their 20s or 60s, turn out and exercise their democratic rights in the general election. The number “2060” also reflects their hope that early voter turnout reaches 20 percent while general voter turnout reaches 60 percent. Early voting will take place from June 8-9, while general voting takes place on June 13.
