A gathering of lawyers and law professors held a sit-in demonstration in front of the Supreme Court of South Korea in Seoul’s Seocho District on June 5 to denounce the judicial abuses and misconduct of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Yang Sung-tae. Yang is suspected of influencing decisions in politically sensitive trials to gain favor under the Park Geun-hye administration. Yang has denied all allegations regarding his abuse of judicial authority, and current Supreme Court Chief Justice Kim Myeong-soo has delayed making a decision on investigating Yang.
