High-ranking officials gathered at the Central Government Complex in Seoul, on June 21 to sign an agreement regarding the restructuring of criminal investigations and cooperation between prosecutors and the police. From the right are pictured Cho Kuk, senior presidential secretary for legal affairs, Minister of Justice Park Sang-gi, Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon, and Minister of Interior and Safety Kim Boo-kyum. The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office of Korea was founded in Dec. 1949 and has since exercised supreme authority over the police when it came to criminal investigations.
