The mercury in Seoul rose to 33.2 degrees Celsius on July 15, the highest on recorded temperature this year. Further south, in Daegu, temperatures climbed all the way up to 36.4 degrees. Many Koreans flocked to the pools to avoid hiking up their electricity bills from running the air conditioner all day. The Korea Meteorological Administration has predicted the heat wave will last a few weeks, ending sometime in August. The above photo pictures a boy cooling off in the fountain at Gwanghwamun Plaza.
