Seoul’s Noryangjin Fish Market is usually filled with liberal displays of a variety of fish and seafood offered by the market’s vendors. On Aug, 1, however, amid a sweltering heat wave that’s producing temperatures as high as 40 degree Celsius, the market’s Styrofoam boxes that usually exhibit fish were empty. This was the first time in 40 years that market vendors did not display fish and seafood, as vendors couldn’t even keep up with the cost of the ice cubes necessary to cool their products.
