The central committee of the Jogye Order of Buddhism, Korea’s largest Buddhist denomination, has submitted a vote of no confidence against its president Ven. Seoljeong. This is the first time such a vote has occurred in the history of the Jogye Order. Seoljeong is not only facing allegations of embezzling the order’s funds but also claims that he’s fathered a daughter, which would be a violation of the order’s vows of celibacy. The above photo show Seoljeong after the central committee started its vote.
