The Samsung S1 chapter of the Korean Federation of Service Workers’ Unions organized a strike and rallied outside Samsung S1 headquarters on Sept. 3. The union demanded the establishment of a regular salary for service workers as opposed to the current system of pay, which is based almost entirely on commissions. Almost 70 percent of all service workers under S1 fall under the company’s commission system. The union demanded a meeting with the company’s CEO, and threw wet toilet paper at the building when stopped by the police. (Kang Chang-kwang, staff photographer)
