A South Korean who traveled to Kuwait and stayed there from Aug. 16 to Sept. 9 was diagnosed with MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome). As a countermeasure, quarantine officials have started conducting stricter examinations of travelers who’ve visited Middle Eastern countries at Incheon International Airport. Additional sanitation procedures are also being implemented. The above photos show quarantine workers sanitizing facilities and inspecting arriving passengers for possible signs of MERS infection on Sept. 10. (Kim Seong-gwang, staff photographer)
