[Photo] Residents of Gongju rally against construction of solar energy plant

Residents of Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, gathered outside Gongju City Hall on Sept. 26 to protest the construction of a solar energy plant in the area. The residents claimed that the plant will threaten the local ecosystem and safety of nearby residents, as construction will require mass razing of the surrounding forest. They also questioned the intentions behind the plant’s construction, saying the project seems more like a ploy to reclassify public land as private property.
