Winter’s around the corner, and once again volunteer groups are roaming the streets of Seoul’s impoverished neighborhoods to hand out free batches of coal briquettes to keep the less fortunate warm throughout the season’s harsh drops in temperature. On Oct. 18, representatives of Hojeo Elementary School, Namwonju Middle School, the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education Union gathered in Seoul’s Namsan park for a volunteering ceremony before handing out batches of coal briquettes in nearby neighborhoods. It was the first event for handing out coal briquettes this year.
