Salmon born in Wangpi Stream in Uljin, North Gyeongsang Province, has returned home after a journey of 16,000km. On Oct. 19, the North Gyeongsang Research Center for Fresh Fish announced that they had captured 20,000 mother salmon for the first time this year. After capturing the them, the salmon undergo fertilization and a 60 day incubation period, and the resulting young are raised during the winter. They are then released into the waters of Gangwon Province’s Namdae Stream and North Gyeongsang Province’s Osip Stream. After a journey of 16,000km and 3 to 4 years, the salmon return to their home in Wangpi Stream. (provided by the North Gyeongsang Research Center for Fresh Fish)
