Researchers at the University of Chicago’s Air Quality Life Index have determined that air pollution from burning fossil fuels reduces global life expectancy and average of 1.8 years per person, making it deadlier than other public hazards such as smoking, war and AIDS. According to their findings, people living in heavily polluted areas such as India could live up to 11 years less because of air pollution.
