KT&G has announced its release of a new heat not burn (HNB) tobacco device, the Lil Hybrid, on Nov. 26. The device works by heating disposable liquid cartridges. Conventional HNB devices work by directly heating sticks of tobacco, resulting in the bitter flavor that HNB users often complain about. Lil Hybrid was created to reduce this bitter flavor while increasing the amount of tobacco consumption in a single use. KT&G has claimed the product reduces the health risks of tobacco, but this statement has not been verified by health experts or the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
