A taxi driver demanding that drivers be paid regular monthly wages instead of forcing them to rely on passenger fare has been holding a sit-in demonstration in front of Jeonju City Hall, North Jeolla Province. On Jan. 16, his sit-in will reach the 500-day mark. The driver is Kim Jae-ju, president of the North Jeolla Chapter of the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers' Union. Kim started his sit-in on Sept. 4, 2017, and has vowed to continue until the city government meets his demands.
