Ahn Tae-geun, former director of the Prosecution Service Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, who has been accused of groping junior female prosecutor Seo Ji-hyun at a funeral, has been sentenced to two years in prison for assigning Seo to an obscure position after she tried to report him for sexual harassment. Hon. Lee Sang-ju, judge under Seoul Central District Court, announced the sentence on Jan. 23, saying Ahn “used his influence to cover up his corrupt conduct and discriminated against the victim in job assignments rather than protecting her.” Lee also added that Ahn inflicted psychological damage. Ahn has denied the charges against him and is planning on appealing the ruling. The photo shows Ahn in handcuffs at Seoul Central District Court after his sentencing on Jan. 23.
