Comfort woman victim and member Justice and Memory Foundation member Lee Mo passed away on Jan. 28 at the age of 93. Lee was kidnapped by Japanese soldiers and forced into sexual slavery in 1942, when she was 17. She was then taken to Manchuria, where she was forced to continue serving Japanese soldiers. Lee’s death means that the number of surviving comfort women victims is now 24, but the Japanese government still refuses to offer a proper apology or compensation.
