The South Korean government has decided to erase the “criminal” records of former prisoners who were wrongly convicted in farcical trials conducted during the Jeju Uprising or 1948-49. The decision is a follow-up measure to a recent court decision to acquit the victims of their “crimes” and give them an innocent verdict. After over 70 years of living with a smudge on their personal records, the victims can finally have their names officially cleared. The request for the records to be erased was made by a special committee for the Jeju Uprising victims to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency. (provided by the Jeju Provincial Council)
