The Korean Conference on Religions for Peace, representing belief systems such as Cheondoism, Protestantism and Jogye Buddhism, convened on Feb. 11 and decided for all religious institutions to ring their bells at noon on Mar. 1, the 100th anniversary of the Mar. 1 Movement for Korean independence from Japanese colonial occupation. Churches, chapels and temples of all sorts are to ring their bells at once at the designated time to commemorate the independence fighters who fought for Korea’s liberation.
