[Photo] Cheongju’s “Samgyeopsal Street” pays tribute to Korean BBQ favorite

Samgyeopsal, or grilled pork belly, is one of South Korea’s most popular dishes and a quintessential cuisine among Korean BBQ. In the city of Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, however, there’s an entire street dedicated to samgyeopsal in the city’s Seomun Market, featuring 14 eateries that all serve the beloved pork belly classic. The street was formed in 2010 to help revive what was then a declining Seomun Market. Cheonghu Mayor Lee Seung-jin has said that since the formation of Samgyeopsal Street, the market continues to steadily recover its original vitality. (provided by Cheongju)
