The 1374th Wednesday Demonstration in front of the Japanese Embassy in Seoul took place on Feb. 13. The weekly demonstrations call for an official apology from the Japanese government for the sexual enslavement of Korean women, euphemistically referred to as the “comfort women,” during the colonial occupation. In response to recent remarks from National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang demanding an official apology from Japan regarding the comfort women issue, the Japanese government asked that Moon officially withdraw his remarks, a request that Moon rejected.
