A special law related to fine-particle pollution will take effect on Feb. 15. Diesel cars produced before 2008 are now banned from driving within Seoul’s metropolitan area on days when the air quality is poor, a measure that will soon be expanded nationwide. The South Korean government will also be launching special committees and teams, comprising both public officials and experts, devoted solely to the pollution issue.
