Goheung County, South Jeolla Province, known mainly for its production of yuza citrus, is reemerging as a hotspot for local coffee. The county, in response to climate change, has resolved to reinvigorate its agriculture by focusing on coffee. The county is drawing up plans for the incubation, development and fostering of coffee production over the next four years, 3 billion won (US$2.66 million). Goheung County is already number one in domestic coffee production in South Korea. The county successfully cultivated 200 coffee trees in greenhouses in 2011, thereby upstarting Korea’s domestic coffee production. (provided by Goheung County)
