[Photo] Gwangju District Court to distribute tickets to attend trial of Chun Doo-hwan

The Gwangju District Court will be distributing admission tickets for those who wishing to attend the trial of ex-president Chun Doo-hwan, 88, on Mar. 8 from 10 am to 10 pm. Chun is currently on trial for defamation due to comments about testimonies of civilian massacres during the Gwangju Democratization Movement under his military regime. Tickets will be given to on a first-come, first-serve basis, and number 65 in total. Those who have been selected will be notified via mobile phone, and their tickets will be distributed in front of the court on the day of the trial. Chun’s first trial was originally scheduled for Jan. 7, but he declined to attend, citing health reasons and claiming he was suffering symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. In response, the Gwangju District Court issued an arrest warrant for Chun. (Hankyoreh archives)
