[Photo] Court denies Yang Seung-tae bail request

The Seoul Central District Court has denied former Supreme Court Chief Justice Yang Seung-tae’s request that he be tried without arrest. The court seems to have accepted prosecutors’ argument that allowing Yang to be tried without arrest would allow him to tamper with evidence in the case involving his judicial misconduct. Yang requested a trial without arrest on Feb. 19, 27 days after a warrant for his arrest was issued on Jan. 24. (Baek So-ah, staff photographer)
