The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization (GTO) is pushing for a “peace monorail” that would link Imjingak Resort in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, to the village of Panmunjom in the DMZ. On Mar. 6, GTO President Yoo Dong-gyu said that “although 4,880,000 tourists visit the DMZ every year, the only thing they can do is put a 500 won coin into a tower viewer and look at the North from afar,” pledging to install a monorail that will give visitors a greater perspective on the Korean Peninsula’s division, the Korean War and the ongoing peace process.
