Hyundai Green Food Co. is a food service company that only caters to over 570 in-house restaurants of Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Department Store branches, but also supplies food and ingredients to over 3,000 businesses nationwide. On Mar. 7, employees in Hyundai Green Food’s in-house restaurants held a press conference in front of the Blue House to protest the company’s devious tactic of including employee’s once bi-monthly bonuses into their standard wages, a ploy to mitigate profit losses from the recent minimum wage hike. By including employee bonuses as part of their standard wages, the company has basically nullified the wage hike. (Kim Jung-hyo, staff photographer)
