Feminist civic groups gathered in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Plaza on Mar. 8 to celebration International Women’s Day. Many of these groups also used the event as an opportunity to call for the end of sexual violence and discrimination in the workplace. Forming what they call the “Mar. 8, 3 pm 3 STOP” collective, they’ve been protesting the gender wage gap by leaving their places of work at 3 pm to demonstrate their economic worth. They also chastised the government for a string of policies that are supposed to improve gender equality but haven’t produced real-life results. (Park Jong-shik, staff photographer)
