Baedari Village stretches across the Geumchang and Songhyeon neighborhoods of eastern Incheon. A place where many Koreans lived after Korea opened its ports to the outside world in 1883, it was also where South Korea’s first match factory was built, spawning an entire district of match factories. The factories shut down in the 1970s due to the emergence of handheld lighters. The Incheon city government has since remodeled one of the factories and converted it into a match museum, which opened its doors on Mar. 15. (provided by Incheon’s Dong District Office)
