The Seoul Metropolitan Government is expected to build a two-story pedestrian bridge over the Han River Bridge. The bridge will connect Nodeul Island and the Noryangjin area and is expected to be completed in 2021. Considering the Han River Bridge was first constructed over a hundred years ago in 1917 as the Han River Pedestrian Bridge, but was destroyed during the Korean War. In 1981 it was reconstructed as a traffic bridge under its current name. Now, the bridge will once again serve its original purpose of catering to pedestrian traffic.
