Birds like pigeons and great tits in South Korea die at a rate of around 8 million a year from colliding into glass buildings and glass soundproofing installations, according to statistics released by the National Institute of Ecology. Buildings with highly reflective glass or those placed near green areas were revealed to kill the most birds. Glass walls built around highways for soundproofing were also found to be highly lethal to birds, who can fly up to 70km per hour. (provided by the National Institute of Ecology)
