The statues of King Sejong the Great and Admiral Yi Sun-sin in Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square got a spring bath on Apr. 9. Both statues had displayed the effects of smog and fine particle pollution. As the Seoul Metropolitan Government is considering moving the statues as part of its new plan for Gwanghwamun Square, the bath may have been the last one for both statues. King Sejong the Great is mainly known as a creator of the Korean Alphabet, while Admiral Yi Sun-sin is a war hero who repelled Japanese invasions during the 16th century. (photo pool)
