The Korean National University of Education’s research center on the Oriental stork reported on Apr. 15 that a stork flew into its protective facility for Oriental storks in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, a day earlier. The bird was a stork who was released into the wild in 2017 after being fitted with a GPS tracker. The stork took off for Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, on Apr. 15. Although Oriental storks went extinct in Korea in 1994, restoration efforts have since allowed resurrected them. The Korean National University of Education released 33 Oriental storks into the wild, and around 40 of them have been spotted flying around the country. The university is currently feeding 82 storks for release. (provided by the Korean National University of Education)
