A South Korean court has issued an arrest warrant for former National Police Agency Commissioner Kang Shin-myung on charges of interfering with in elections during the Park Geun-hye administration. Kang has been suspected of helping pro-Park politicians in the April 2016 general elections using cyber interference via the national police intelligence network. It’s also been discovered that during Kang’s time as the police commissioner, he delivered an annual report to Park at the end of every year based on divination and shamanism. Park was impeached partially because she was discovered to have been consulting a shaman/advisor named Choi Soon-sil, who made many critical policy designs in Park’s stead based on divination. One of the reports Kang sent Park said that leading soothsayers prophesized that Park would become a “flower blooming on a frozen wasteland.” (Hankyoreh archives)
