[Photo] Remains of S. Korean soldier found in DMZ

On May 16, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense (MND) announced that the remains of South Korean soldier in their entirety and his personal belongings have been discovered on Hwasalmeori (Arrowhead) Hill in the DMZ in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province. The remains were discovered on May 15 during an exhumation effort on the South Korean side of the DMZ in preparation for a joint exhumation effort. Among the personal belongings were a badge, a hat, a water canteen, and two ammunition cases. All the bones of the body were discovered, but the identity of the soldier has yet to be confirmed. The MND announced that further DNA tests would be required to confirm the identity. (provided by the MND)
