The commemorative ceremony for the 10th anniversary of the passing of former President Roh Moo-hyun was held in Bongha Village, South Gyeongsang Province, on May 23. Thousands of attendees sang along to the lyrics of “Evergreen Tree,” a song the late Roh loved to sing, as 1,004 butterflies were released into the air in a gesture for peace and a new beginning. In attendance were President Moon Jae-in, first lady Kim Jung-sook, Roh’s surviving family members, former US President George W. Bush, and National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang.
